Lake Sebu, South Cotabato – A tragic domestic violence incident unfolded in Barangay Lamdalag, Lake Sebu, South Cotabato on Saturday afternoon, July 5, 2025, when a man allegedly hacked his two sisters with a bolo, killing one and seriously injuring the other.

The suspect, identified only as alias “Bonifacio,” a 46-year-old farmer and resident of the same barangay, was reportedly under the influence of alcohol when he passed by the house of his sisters, alias “Gina,” 40, and alias “Siga,” 62.

According to the initial investigation by the Lake Sebu Municipal Police Station, Bonifacio became aggressive and hostile after his siblings confronted him about his behavior. Instead of calming down, the suspect allegedly drew a bolo and began attacking the two women.

Gina sustained fatal wounds and was pronounced dead shortly after the attack. Her older sister, Siga, was seriously injured and was immediately rushed by relatives to the Lake Sebu Community Health Care Complex, where she is currently undergoing medical treatment.

The suspect later voluntarily surrendered to authorities, accompanied by a former barangay official. He is now under police custody at the Lake Sebu Police Station.

Police are still searching for the weapon used in the attack, which was not recovered at the crime scene.

Authorities said that appropriate criminal charges are now being prepared against the suspect.
