Davao City, Philippines – June 8, 2025 — The final and most vibrant leg of Philippine Eagle Week 2025 takes off this June 9–11 at The Annex Event Area, SM City Davao, with a powerful message: to soar together in saving one of the world’s most endangered raptors — the majestic Philippine Eagle.

Dubbed “Agilaya: Soaring Together,” this three-day celebration brings together communities, families, conservationists, and artists to raise awareness and deepen public commitment to protect our national bird and its dwindling forest home.

A Celebration of Culture and Conservation

The event opens on June 9 with a cultural presentation and interactive exhibit tour, immersing visitors in the eagle’s world. Exhibits tell the story not just of the bird’s biology, but also its cultural significance and the urgent threats to its survival — deforestation, habitat loss, and poaching. Educational talks will highlight community-led conservation efforts and scientific approaches to preserving the eagle’s forest habitat.

Stories That Inspire Action

On June 10, the spotlight shifts to storytelling and lived experience. A mini documentary titled “To Save Our Eagles” will be screened, offering a glimpse into the lives of forest guardians, eagle conservationists, and Indigenous peoples. Children will enjoy a live storytelling session of “Ang Agila at ang Gubat,” while visitors can browse a moving photo exhibit capturing the everyday heroism of forest rangers and Indigenous communities — the true stewards of the land.

Eco-conscious shoppers can support local artisans, NGOs, and eco-friendly producers at the Eco-Partner Booths, while the launch of a donation drive will help fund eagle sanctuaries and reforestation projects.

Empowering the Youth, Honoring Heroes

The final day, June 11, features creative workshops where children and teens can express their love for wildlife through digital art, posters, and DIY eagle masks. The event will culminate in a recognition and awarding ceremony honoring individuals and groups who have made significant contributions to eagle conservation. A pledge wall signing and closing cultural performances will wrap up the week with a message of unity and hope.

Why It Matters

The Philippine Eagle is not just a national symbol — it is a barometer of forest health and a key species in our ecosystem. With fewer than 400 pairs left in the wild, each conservation effort is critical. The eagle’s survival is intimately tied to the survival of our forests — and the communities that depend on them.

Events like Agilaya remind us that protecting the eagle means protecting our shared future. It calls on every Filipino to learn, to act, and to stand together — soaring with purpose toward a greener, more sustainable tomorrow.

As the curtains rise on the final and biggest leg of Philippine Eagle Week 2025, Davao invites you to be part of something bigger: a movement to give the King of the Philippine Skies a fighting chance to thrive once more.

Join the celebration. Take the pledge. Help the eagle soar. 💚
