In a major crackdown on illegal firearms and drug activities, the Davao del Sur Police Provincial Office (DSPPO) successfully executed a series of intensified law enforcement operations under OPLAN Halukay 2025-01, recovering unlicensed firearms and uprooting marijuana plants in the remote areas of Kiblawan town.
Led by Provincial Director PCOL Leo T. Ajero, the operations involved joint forces from the Provincial Headquarters, the nine municipal police stations, Digos City Police Station, 1st and 2nd Davao del Sur Provincial Mobile Force Companies (DSPMFC), the 1104th Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 11 (RMFB 11), and the Regional Intelligence Unit-Provincial Intelligence Team (RIU-PIT) Davao del Sur.
The first operation took place in the early morning of April 28, 2025. At around 5:30 AM, a combat operation and reconnaissance patrol was launched targeting a wanted person, Moymoy Dayangay, in Sitio Caluga, Barangay Tacub. Although the suspect was not apprehended, authorities discovered a shanty containing several loose firearms and firearm components. Items recovered included one homemade 12-gauge shotgun locally known as a “Baliuntod,” a .22 caliber homemade firearm, parts of two .22 air guns, a shotgun bolt, and a Baofeng radio. These items are now in the custody of Kiblawan Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.
Continuing the crackdown, the same joint forces discovered an illicit marijuana cultivation site on April 30, 2025, at around 6:10 PM in Sitio Tunnel, also in Barangay Tacub. Authorities found around twenty fully grown suspected marijuana plants growing on a 20-square-meter public land ridge. The plants, valued at approximately Php 4,000, were uprooted and turned over to the Davao Sur Provincial Forensic Unit 11 (DSPFU11) for laboratory examination.
“These operations highlight our commitment to dismantling threats, reducing criminality, and reclaiming peace in geographically isolated and conflict-affected areas,” said PCOL Ajero in a statement. “We are determined to rid our province of illegal weapons and drug-related activities.”
OPLAN Halukay 2025-01 is part of the DSPPO’s ongoing internal security and community protection efforts, aimed at eliminating armed threats and curbing illegal activities in Davao del Sur through coordination with various intelligence and law enforcement units.
Authorities reaffirmed their resolve to ensure the safety and security of communities, especially in far-flung areas vulnerable to criminal elements.
