MIDSAYAP, NORTH COTABATO — October 3, 2026 — The Philippine Army’s 602nd Infantry Brigade, 6th Infantry Division, formally held a send-off ceremony for Task Force 27 as the unit concluded its mission in the area, while assuring residents that the withdrawal of the task force would not mean a reduction in security.

The ceremony was held at the headquarters of the 33rd Infantry (Makabayan) Battalion in Midsayap and was led by Col. Romeo N. Bautista III, INF (MNSA), PA, Acting Commander of the 602nd Infantry Brigade.
The activity served as an expression of appreciation for the service, dedication and contribution of Task Force 27 personnel during their deployment. Army officials recognized the role played by the task force in maintaining peace and security in the communities under its area of responsibility.
The conclusion of Task Force 27’s deployment comes amid continuing efforts to maintain stability in communities where the presence of security forces remains important. The 602nd Infantry Brigade and the 33rd Infantry Battalion emphasized that residents, particularly those in Nabalawag, should not be alarmed by the pullout.
According to the Army, security operations and community support will continue through the presence of the 61st Division Reconnaissance Company and the Alpha Company of the 33rd Infantry Battalion. The units will continue assisting in maintaining peace, security and public order in the community and surrounding areas.
The assurance is intended to prevent uncertainty among residents following the departure of Task Force 27. Army officials urged the people of Nabalawag and neighboring communities to remain calm, continue their normal daily activities and maintain cooperation with government security and local authorities.
The 33rd Infantry Battalion stressed that the pullout of Task Force 27 should not be interpreted as an abandonment of the area. Rather, the battalion will continue carrying out its mandate to protect civilians and support peace and security efforts in Nabalawag and nearby communities.
The 33rd Infantry (Makabayan) Battalion served as the host unit for the send-off ceremony, demonstrating its support and solidarity with Task Force 27 as the latter completed its assignment.
As Task Force 27 moves toward its next mission, the Army expressed its appreciation to its personnel for their service, commitment and sacrifices during their deployment.
For residents, the message from the military leadership was clear: the departure of one task force does not mean the departure of security forces from the community. The Army said its presence, monitoring and public-service mandate will continue as it works with local communities to preserve peace and order.
