PALIMBANG, Sultan Kudarat — A member of the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPAT) was wounded in a shooting incident in Barangay Molon, Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat, on Saturday morning, September 26, 2026, according to an initial report from local police.
The victim was initially identified as Yatol Abdul, a BPAT member who reportedly sustained a gunshot wound to the leg during the incident.
The Palimbang Municipal Police Station said it received information about the shooting at around 8 a.m. on September 26. The circumstances surrounding the shooting, including what led to the attack, remained unclear as authorities continued to verify the details.
Abdul was brought to a hospital for immediate medical treatment following the shooting. Police personnel from the Palimbang MPS, together with members of the Palimbang Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), proceeded to the hospital to conduct an initial investigation and gather information about the incident.
Meanwhile, a separate police team was dispatched to Barangay Molon to conduct a follow-up investigation and locate the individual being identified as the alleged shooter.
Authorities have yet to establish the identity of the alleged assailant, the weapon reportedly used, or the circumstances that may have triggered the shooting. The possible motive also remained under investigation.
Police were continuing to gather statements and other information that could help clarify what happened and determine whether the shooting was an isolated incident or connected to any other dispute or security concern in the area.
