Two former members of Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs) voluntarily surrendered to government authorities during separate security operations in Bukidnon on August 14, 2026, according to the Police Regional Office 10 (PRO10).
The first surrender took place at about 10:15 a.m. at the headquarters of the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (2nd PMFC) in Barangay Pinamaloy, Don Carlos, Bukidnon.
Personnel of the 2nd PMFC and the Kibawe Municipal Police Station (MPS), in coordination with the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) of the Bukidnon Police Provincial Office (BukPPO), 1003rd Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 10, Regional Intelligence Unit 10, 1013rd Special Action Company of the 1st Special Action Battalion of the PNP-Special Action Force, and the Directorate for Intelligence–Mindanao Area Police Intelligence Office (DI-MAPIO), facilitated the voluntary surrender.
The individual, identified only by authorities through the alias “Dodong,” is 42 years old, single, a farmer, and a resident of Bukidnon. Police said he was formerly affiliated with the dismantled Guerrilla Front 53 (GF53) of the Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (SMRC) and was listed under the Non-Periodic Status Report (NPSR).
About 15 minutes later, at approximately 10:30 a.m., another former CTG member surrendered during a separate security operation in Malaybalay City.
Personnel of the 1st PMFC and Kibawe MPS, in coordination with the PIU of BukPPO and DI-MAPIO, facilitated the surrender of alias “Rapid” during the conduct of a Minor Internal Security Operation (ISO) under Oplan “ARIS” at Purok 8, Barangay Zamboanguita, Malaybalay City.
“Rapid,” 53, married, and a resident of Bukidnon, was identified by authorities as a former member of the Special Regional Strike and Development Group (SRSDG) under Sub-Regional Committee 2 (SRC2) of the North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC).
Authorities said his decision to surrender was part of continuing government efforts to encourage former members of armed groups to abandon the armed struggle and return to mainstream society.
Both individuals are now under government custody for appropriate processing and reintegration interventions. Authorities said the process is intended to facilitate their transition back to civilian life and provide access to government assistance and other available reintegration mechanisms.
The two separate surrenders underscore the continuing efforts of government security and intelligence units in Bukidnon to encourage individuals who have left the armed movement to peacefully return to the folds of the law.
PRO10 Regional Director PBGen Christopher N. Abrahano commended the operating units and partner agencies involved in facilitating the peaceful surrender of the two former CTG members.
“The decision of these individuals to abandon the armed struggle and return to the folds of the law is a positive step toward peace and a better future,” Abrahano said.
He also urged those who remain involved in the armed movement to consider surrendering peacefully and taking advantage of the government’s reintegration programs.
“We encourage those who remain in the armed movement to choose peace, surrender voluntarily, and take advantage of the government’s reintegration program,” he added.
Police said the voluntary surrender of former armed-group members remains an important component of the government’s broader efforts to reduce armed conflict, promote peace and security, and help former combatants rebuild their lives within their communities.
