MAGALLANES, Agusan del Norte — Authorities are investigating the discovery of the body of an unidentified man floating in coastal waters behind the Santo Niño Gym in Barangay Santo Niño, Magallanes, Agusan del Norte, on Friday morning, August 14, 2026.

Initial information indicated that local residents noticed the body floating in the sea at around past 10 a.m. in the vicinity of Purok 4. The discovery was immediately reported to authorities, who responded to the area and initiated procedures concerning the recovery and identification of the deceased.

The victim was described in initial reports as a male. Authorities have yet to establish his identity, and no information has so far been released confirming where he came from or how long he had been in the water.

A tattoo was reportedly observed on the rear portion of the victim’s body, a detail that may help investigators establish his identity as the identification process continues.

Authorities are also looking into the circumstances surrounding the death. At this stage, there is no official determination as to whether the man died from drowning, suffered an accident, or was the victim of any form of foul play.
