ALABEL, Sarangani Province – The local government of Alabel has ordered the temporary closure of two poultry farms in Barangay Tokawal after authorities found them to be in continuous violation of sanitation and environmental regulations despite repeated inspections and warnings.

The closure orders were enforced on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, under the directive of Mayor Lilibeth “Ybing” J. Salarda, MPA, following the recommendation of the Municipal Joint Inspection Team (MJIT).
According to the Alabel Information Office, the two poultry farms repeatedly failed to comply with the provisions of Presidential Decree No. 856, otherwise known as the Code on Sanitation of the Philippines, its Implementing Rules and Regulations, and Municipal Ordinance No. 13-2021-166.
Authorities said the facilities were found to have persistent deficiencies in sanitation and environmental compliance despite previous inspections and official notices requiring them to address the violations.
Under the closure orders, both poultry farms have been directed to cease operations for three months, effective immediately upon receipt of the notices.
During the temporary shutdown, operators are strictly prohibited from introducing new batches of chicks into the facilities. They have also been ordered to implement all necessary corrective measures, including eliminating the persistent fly infestation, improving poultry waste management practices, and restoring sanitary conditions in full compliance with national laws and local ordinances.
The municipal government emphasized that the poultry farms will only be allowed to resume operations after the three-month closure period if they successfully address all identified deficiencies. Before reopening, the Municipal Joint Inspection Team must conduct another inspection and issue an official certification confirming that all violations have been corrected, subject to the approval of the municipal mayor.
Mayor Salarda underscored that safeguarding public health, maintaining environmental cleanliness, and ensuring strict but fair enforcement of the law remain among the top priorities of her administration.
“The protection of public health, preservation of environmental sanitation, and impartial enforcement of existing laws are fundamental priorities of this administration,” the mayor said through the municipal government.
The local government likewise assured residents that it will continue conducting regular inspections and implementing sanitation and environmental regulations without exception to ensure that businesses operate responsibly and that communities remain safe, clean, and healthy.
The enforcement action reflects Alabel’s continuing campaign to strengthen public health standards and environmental protection by holding establishments accountable for violations that could pose risks to nearby communities.
