DUJALI, Davao del Norte — Residents were alarmed after the decomposing body of an unidentified man was discovered stuffed inside a sack and abandoned near a banana plantation close to the Davao Penal Colony (DAPECOL) in Barangay Tanglaw, Braulio E. Dujali, Davao del Norte, on Tuesday morning, June 16, 2026.
According to initial police reports, the gruesome discovery was made shortly after 10 a.m. when authorities responded to information regarding a foul-smelling sack that had been discarded near a creek in the area.
Upon inspection, responding officers from the Dujali Municipal Police Station (MPS) found the lifeless body of a man inside the sack. Investigators believe the body had been left at the site for several days, as it was already in a state of decomposition and emitting a strong odor.
The victim has yet to be identified as of this writing. Police described him as approximately 30 years old, wearing a black shirt and dark-colored shorts at the time his body was recovered.
The discovery has raised concerns among residents, who were shocked by the apparent attempt to conceal the victim’s remains in a remote area near the banana plantation.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the man’s death, including the motive behind the killing and the identities of those responsible.
The Dujali MPS has appealed to the public for assistance in identifying the victim. Police urged anyone with information regarding a missing male relative or acquaintance matching the victim’s description to immediately coordinate with authorities.
During an interview, police disclosed that an individual had already approached them regarding the case. However, investigators are still awaiting official confirmation before establishing the victim’s identity.
The recovered remains have been transferred to a local funeral home while authorities continue forensic examinations and verification procedures.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing and assured the public that all possible leads are being pursued to uncover the truth behind the killing and bring those responsible to justice.
