TUDELA, MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL – Government security forces have recovered three high-powered firearms believed to have been hidden by members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) during a joint search and recovery operation in the municipality of Tudela, authorities reported.

The operation was conducted in Sitio Lambogan, Barangay Gala, through the combined efforts of the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), the Philippine Army’s 10th Infantry Battalion, members of the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU), and the Tudela Municipal Police Station.
Authorities said the successful operation was made possible through information provided by a former rebel who served as a confidential informant, highlighting the continuing role of former insurgents in government efforts to dismantle the remaining armed capabilities of the CTG.
Recovered during the operation were one AK-47 assault rifle, one CZ rifle, one M1 Carbine rifle, four AK-47 magazines, and several rounds of live ammunition.
The recovered firearms and ammunition have been turned over to the 10th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army for proper documentation, forensic examination, and disposition.
Security officials believe the recovered cache was previously concealed by communist rebels operating in the area and said its recovery is expected to weaken the group’s capability to launch armed activities in the province.
Authorities emphasized that the operation reflects the continuing collaboration among the Philippine National Police, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and local stakeholders in addressing insurgency and ensuring peace and security in vulnerable communities.
Police also renewed their appeal to the public to remain vigilant and actively support law enforcement efforts by immediately reporting any information regarding the presence of armed groups, hidden weapons caches, or suspicious activities within their communities.
Officials stressed that timely and accurate information from residents remains a crucial component in preventing the resurgence of insurgent activities and maintaining the gains of ongoing peace and security operations across Misamis Occidental.
