SULTAN KUDARAT, Maguindanao del Norte — Authorities have officially identified the body of a young woman that was recently discovered along a coastal area in Maguindanao del Norte, as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding her death.

The victim was identified as 18-year-old Nadjia Mulod, a resident of Sitio Tinago, Barangay Bruce in Datu Odin Sinsuat.
Earlier reports stated that the body of an unidentified female was found along the shoreline area in Sitio Didsan, Barangay Simuay Seashore, Sultan Mastura. The gruesome discovery alarmed residents and authorities after the victim was reportedly found with her hands tied and her head wrapped in cloth, raising suspicions of possible foul play.
According to information gathered by authorities, the body was already in an advanced stage of decomposition when recovered, prompting the victim’s family to request her immediate burial on Thursday night in accordance with their cultural and religious customs.
Due to the condition of the remains, the family reportedly encountered difficulty in securing a rescue vehicle to transport the body back to their community. However, personnel of the Philippine National Police later assisted in bringing the victim’s remains home after confirming her identity and residence.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the exact cause of death pending further investigation.
Police investigators are now working to determine the full circumstances surrounding the killing, including where the crime may have occurred, possible persons involved, and whether the victim had been missing for several days before her body was discovered.
The case has sparked concern among residents, especially after the disturbing condition in which the victim was found.
Meanwhile, authorities continue to appeal to the public for any information that could help shed light on the incident as the investigation moves forward.
