CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Authorities are continuing efforts to identify a man whose lifeless body was discovered floating along the shoreline of the Coastal Road in Barangay Lapasan early morning on Sunday.

According to initial reports, the body was first spotted by fishermen at around 5 a.m. while they were conducting their routine activities near the coast. The fishermen immediately retrieved the body from the water and alerted local authorities.

Investigators from Police Station 3 (Agora) responded to the scene to conduct an inspection and initial investigation into the incident.

Police Master Sergeant Niel Brooks Galve, the investigator handling the case, said authorities found no visible signs of foul play on the victim’s body. Based on their assessment, investigators believe the incident may have been a drowning case.

“The body showed no apparent injuries or indications that suggest foul play,” Galve said, adding that the victim may have accidentally drowned.

The unidentified man was described as around 30 to 35 years old, clean-cut, wearing a blue T-shirt and black pants. Authorities also noted that the victim had no visible tattoos and was not wearing slippers when found.

Police are now coordinating with concerned agencies and nearby communities to determine the identity of the victim and locate possible relatives.

Authorities are appealing to the public, especially those who may have missing family members or acquaintances matching the description, to immediately contact Police Station 3 or the nearest police station.

The body has been brought to the appropriate facility for further examination while the investigation remains ongoing.
