MARAMAG, Bukidnon — A 60-year-old woman was seriously injured after she was brutally hacked by an unidentified intruder inside her own home in Purok 6, Barangay Danggawan, Maramag, Bukidnon in the early hours of May 7, 2026.
The victim, identified only by the alias “Fe,” is currently recovering in the hospital after sustaining a severe head injury during the violent attack that shocked residents of the quiet community.
According to the initial investigation conducted by the Maramag Municipal Police Station, the incident occurred at around 12:42 a.m. while the victim was asleep inside her bedroom together with her adult son and a minor daughter.
Authorities said the unidentified male suspect allegedly entered the house through the back door before proceeding directly to the victim’s room. Without warning, the assailant reportedly attacked the sleeping senior citizen using a bladed weapon, striking her in the head.
Investigators revealed that the suspect attempted to conceal his identity by covering his face and head with a green t-shirt during the assault.
After carrying out the attack, the suspect immediately fled toward an unknown direction.
Responding members of the Barangay Bantay Bayan rushed to the scene and immediately transported the wounded victim to the Bukidnon Provincial Hospital for emergency medical treatment. Authorities later confirmed that the victim survived the attack and is now in stable condition.
Police said it was fortunate that the victim’s children and other family members inside the room were not harmed during the incident.
A hot pursuit operation is now underway as investigators continue to identify the suspect and determine the motive behind the brutal hacking incident.
Authorities are urging anyone with information that could help in the identification and arrest of the suspect to coordinate with the nearest police station.
