A farmer was killed after being shot by unidentified gunmen in the municipality of Shariff Aguak on the morning of May 17, authorities reported.
The victim, identified only by the alias “Ali,” was a resident of the area and was described as being of legal age and working as a farmer.
Based on the initial police investigation, the victim was suddenly attacked and repeatedly shot by still unidentified suspects in the area. After carrying out the shooting, the assailants immediately fled, escaping before authorities could arrive at the scene.
Responding law enforcement personnel rushed to the area and brought the wounded victim to a hospital for emergency treatment. However, attending physicians later declared him dead on arrival.
Authorities have yet to determine the identities of the perpetrators as well as the motive behind the fatal shooting. Investigators are currently conducting follow-up operations and gathering possible evidence and witness accounts that may help in solving the case.
Police assured the public that an in-depth investigation is ongoing to bring the perpetrators to justice and prevent similar incidents in the province.
