ZAMBOANGA CITY — A 30-year-old man was shot dead on Sunday night in Barangay Lubigan, prompting an ongoing police investigation into the circumstances and motive behind the killing.

The victim was identified as Jolly Martinez, a resident of Barangay Bunguiao. Authorities declared him dead on the spot after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds during the incident, which occurred along Mayonnaise Drive in Barangay Lubigan.
According to Zamboanga City Police Station 2 chief, Police Captain Adzhar Omar, responding officers recovered approximately nine empty shell casings believed to be from a .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene. The volume of spent shells suggests that the victim may have been repeatedly fired upon.
Initial reports indicate that the shooting took place late Sunday evening, though police have yet to disclose further details regarding possible suspects or whether the attack was targeted.
