DON CARLOS, Bukidnon — A 25-year-old man was arrested after he was caught in the act of siphoning fuel from a parked truck in Barangay Kawilihan on the evening of April 24, 2026, authorities reported.

According to an initial police report, the suspect, a resident of the same barangay, was discovered by a witness at around 8:20 p.m. while transferring diesel into a plastic container. The container was found to hold an estimated 30 liters of fuel, valued at approximately P2,790.

The witness immediately alerted the truck owner, prompting a swift response from barangay Civilian Volunteer Organization (CVO) personnel. The suspect was apprehended on-site before he could flee.

Barangay Captain Romeo Belisario later turned over the suspect to the Don Carlos Municipal Police Station (MPS). Authorities confirmed that the man was informed of his constitutional rights in accordance with the law.

Recovered from the suspect were the plastic container and the stolen fuel, which will serve as key evidence in the filing of charges. The suspect remains in police custody as of this writing, pending the proper disposition of the case.

Police have yet to disclose whether the suspect acted alone or if the incident is linked to a broader pattern of fuel theft in the area. Investigations are ongoing.
