DIGOS CITY, Davao del Sur — An armed suspect held up a balut vendor in the early hours of April 27, fleeing with cash after threatening a store attendant at a small food establishment in Zone 2.

Police said they received a call at around 2:13 a.m. from the cashier of Yans Balutan reporting a robbery that had just occurred at 1st Crumb, a known balut vending spot in the area.

The victim, identified only by the alias “Percia,” a female store attendant of legal age and a resident of Durian Street, Poblacion 1 in Bansalan, Davao del Sur, was seated at the cashier’s table when the suspect struck.

Based on initial investigation, at approximately 2:08 a.m., an unidentified male entered the establishment, as captured on CCTV footage. The suspect was wearing a gray or silver helmet with a blue-tinted visor, a khaki jacket, and maong shorts, concealing his identity.

He immediately drew a .38 caliber pistol and declared a hold-up, pointing the firearm directly at the victim. Fearing for her safety, the attendant handed over the vendor’s earnings amounting to ₱4,217.

The suspect quickly fled the scene on foot and is believed to have proceeded toward a nearby motorcycle before escaping in an unknown direction.

Authorities have launched a hot pursuit operation, with responding personnel coordinating with intelligence and mobile patrol units in an effort to track down the suspect and recover the stolen cash.

Police continue to urge the public to report any information that may help identify or locate the suspect as the investigation remains ongoing.
