KABACAN, Cotabato — One person was killed while two others were wounded in a shooting incident that occurred around 1:30 p.m. on March 3, 2026, in Sitio Lumayong, Barangay Kayaga, Kabacan, Cotabato, according to the Philippine National Police.

Authorities identified the fatality as Jeric Laba Mamacob, also known as Rico Lumacob, 36, married and a resident of the said village. He was declared dead following the attack.
Meanwhile, the injured victims were identified as Tuway Mangagel Guiama, 47, a resident of Limbalod in Datu Montawal, and Juldrin Maulana Nomo, 33, a resident of Sitio Lumayong, Barangay Kayaga in Kabacan. Both sustained gunshot wounds and were rushed to a hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.
In an initial report, the Kabacan Municipal Police Station said they received a call about a shooting incident in the area, prompting an alert team to immediately respond to the scene. Police personnel secured the area and launched a hot pursuit operation against the still unidentified suspects who fled after the attack.
Investigators are now gathering further evidence and interviewing possible witnesses to determine the motive behind the shooting and identify those responsible.
Police assured the public that the investigation is ongoing and that efforts are underway to track down the suspects involved in the incident.
