MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL — A provincial government employee was arrested in a buy-bust operation after authorities seized 11 sachets of suspected shabu in Barangay Talic, authorities confirmed on Tuesday.

The suspect was identified only as alias “Alexie,” 43, married, who works as an Administrative Assistant III at the Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental. He was apprehended during an anti-illegal drugs operation conducted at Purok 1, Barangay Talic, following surveillance that reportedly confirmed his alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade.

Operatives recovered three sachets of suspected shabu from the suspect during the initial arrest. A subsequent body search yielded eight more sachets of suspected shabu along with ₱3,000 in marked buy-bust money, bringing the total confiscated to 11 sachets.

Authorities said the seized items were properly marked and inventoried at the scene in the presence of required witnesses, in accordance with standard operating procedures.

The suspect is currently in the custody of law enforcement authorities and will face charges for violation of Section 11, Republic Act No. 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Police emphasized that the arrest underscores the government’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs, stressing that no one is above the law, regardless of position or employment in public office. Investigators are also looking into possible links to a wider drug network operating in the area.
