Taraka, Lanao del Sur – Authorities have successfully dismantled a major illegal drug transaction in Barangay Sigayan Proper, Taraka, Lanao del Sur, seizing an estimated ₱340,000 worth of shabu and arresting a high-value target (HVT) during a buy-bust operation on January 24, 2026.


Operatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Special Enforcement Team (RSET), in coordination with the PDEA Regional Intelligence Office (RIO), PDEA Lanao del Sur Provincial Office, PDEA LTIU BARMM, and the Taraka and Mulondo Municipal Police Stations, led the operation that netted the significant haul.
Authorities confiscated one self-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing approximately 50 grams of suspected shabu, alongside the buy-bust money used in the transaction. The estimated national street value of the confiscated drugs is around ₱340,000.
The suspect, identified by the alias “Mona,” is a 42-year-old female resident of Barangay Cabayuan, Buldon, Maguindanao del Norte. She is currently under the custody of the PDEA BARMM Jail Facility and faces charges for violation of Section 5 of Republic Act No. 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, which carries a penalty of lifetime imprisonment.
PDEA officials emphasized that operations like this are part of the agency’s continued efforts to target high-value individuals and dismantle drug networks in the region.
