DAVAO CITY — A 29-year-old Pakistani national was wounded after being shot by two still unidentified men riding a motorcycle in a daring attack inside a residential subdivision in Barangay Tacunan, Tugbok District, on Friday afternoon, January 9, 2026.

The victim was identified by police as “Afraz,” a single businessman from Pakistan and a resident of Purok 14, Barangay Ula, Tugbok District.

According to the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), the incident happened at around 2:40 p.m. at Deca Homes, Phase 8-A, when Afraz had just finished having his beard trimmed at a nearby barbershop. He had returned to his parked vehicle and was already seated in the driver’s seat when two men aboard a motorcycle suddenly stopped near him.

Without warning, the suspects opened fire, hitting the victim three times before speeding away toward the direction of Barangay Ula.

Police said Afraz was struck by two bullets at the back and one on the left shoulder. Despite his injuries, the victim managed to move to the passenger side of the vehicle to avoid further harm and sought help from his employee, who rushed him to the Davao Adventist Hospital. He was later transferred to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) for further treatment and observation.

Investigators recovered three empty shell casings of a .45-caliber firearm at the crime scene. A bullet was also found lodged in the seat backrest of the victim’s car after passing through the left window.

The suspects remain at large, and authorities are still determining the motive behind the attack. Police have not ruled out any angle, including personal, business-related, or criminal motives.

The DCPO said a manhunt operation is ongoing and urged anyone with information related to the incident to immediately coordinate with the nearest police station.

“This was a brazen daylight attack inside a residential area. We are exerting all efforts to identify and arrest the perpetrators,” police said.

As of this writing, no arrests have been made, and the investigation continues.
