OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental — A driver who is also a reservist of the Philippine Navy was arrested in a joint buy-bust operation after he was caught allegedly selling illegal drugs outside the Integrated Bus and Jeepney Terminal (IBJT) Agora in Barangay Aguada, Ozamiz City.

The suspect, identified by authorities as alias “Alit,” 49, married, and a resident of Barangay Carmen Annex, was classified as a High Value Individual (HVI) in the local drug watchlist.

Police said the operation was conducted in Purok 5, Barangay Aguada, where an undercover operative successfully purchased a sachet of suspected shabu worth ₱500 from the suspect, leading to his immediate arrest.

During a body search, authorities recovered seven small sachets and two large sachets of suspected shabu, the marked ₱500 buy-bust money, a cigarette case containing illegal drugs, the suspect’s National ID, his sidecar motorcycle, and a black shoulder bag where the seized items were found.

The arresting team noted that the suspect attempted no resistance during the operation.

The confiscated drugs and other pieces of evidence were properly marked and inventoried in the presence of required witnesses.

The suspect is now under the custody of the Ozamiz City Police Station and will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Authorities reiterated their commitment to intensifying anti-illegal drug operations and urged the public to continue cooperating by reporting suspicious activities in their communities.
