SULTAN MASTURA, Maguindanao del Norte – A long-standing conflict between the Sanggacala and Talin families was peacefully resolved following a successful dispute resolution process facilitated by local authorities and peace stakeholders on Tuesday at the residence of Vice Mayor Esmail “Bapa Mail” Buradtong in Barangay Namuken.

The settlement was witnessed and led by key representatives from government agencies, security forces, and peace institutions, underscoring the strong inter-agency collaboration in maintaining peace and order in the municipality. Among those present were Faisal Sali, CDO-III of the PSRO OCM-BARMM; Rahida Salido, CAO-III of MPOS-BARMM; Omar Bayao of PIP CCCH-MILF; Pendaliday “Phillip” Beda, JD; members of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Parliament; and 2LT Kent Lemuel Cultura of the 32nd Marine Company.

Also in attendance were personnel from the Sultan Mastura Municipal Police Station (MPS), representatives of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF), municipal councilors, barangay chairpersons, SKG POLCOM MILF members, and various line agencies to ensure that the agreement was fair, transparent, and sustainable.

Local government officials said the peaceful settlement serves as a powerful example of how dialogue, mutual respect, and community-based mechanisms can prevent conflicts from escalating into violence—particularly in areas historically affected by clan feuds and armed tensions.

“This agreement reflects the effectiveness of coordinated efforts between the local government, security sector, and peace partners in promoting harmony and stability in our communities,” the LGU stated.

Authorities emphasized that open dialogue and understanding remain the most effective tools in resolving disputes among citizens, especially in culturally sensitive areas where family ties and community relations are deeply rooted.

The successful resolution not only prevented potential violence but also reinforced Sultan Mastura’s commitment to peacebuilding, reconciliation, and the protection of civilian lives—an important step toward lasting peace in Maguindanao del Norte and the wider Bangsamoro region.
