CARMEN, Davao del Norte — A 70-year-old farmer is now facing a frustrated parricide charge after he hacked his own son during a heated confrontation late Monday night, December 24, in Barangay Mabaus.
Police identified the suspect only as “Sar,” a resident of Purok 3 and a farmer, while the victim was named as Christian Tibus Taclobos, 30, also a farmer and the suspect’s son.
Based on the investigation of the Carmen Municipal Police Station, the younger Taclobos was reportedly drunk and incessantly shouting outside their house, disturbing the neighborhood and waking his father who was asleep inside.
Agitated by the disturbance, the father allegedly grabbed a sundang (bolo) and attacked his son, hitting him on his right arm. Neighbors quickly intervened and prevented the suspect from inflicting further harm.
The victim was rushed to the Carmen District Hospital where he is currently receiving medical treatment.
Police responded promptly and arrested the elderly father, who is now detained at the Carmen MPS pending the filing of appropriate charges.
Authorities reminded the public to seek help when dealing with family disputes and alcohol-related tensions, stressing that violence only leads to more suffering within families.
