TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur — A 67-year-old German national was found brutally stabbed to death inside his residence in Purok Pag-asa I, Barangay Rosario, Tandag City, on the morning of December 12, 2025, authorities confirmed.
The victim was identified as Peter Paul Homann, whose lifeless body was discovered at around 7:30 a.m. by a carpenter hired to work on the renovation of his home. According to the Tandag City Police Station (CCPS), the carpenter, identified as Marjun Gonzaga Eman, 30, arrived at the house as scheduled and attempted to call out and knock on Homann’s bedroom door. When no one responded, Eman opened the door and found Homann lying on the bed with multiple stab wounds on his body.
Shocked by the discovery, Eman immediately sought help and informed Homann’s former live-in partner, Helen Luisma, who then reported the incident to the police. Responding officers from the Tandag CCPS, together with personnel from the Tandag City Health Office led by Dr. Ruth M. Arraz, City Health Officer, rushed to the scene. Homann was declared dead on the spot.
Police revealed that Homann and his partner had recently planned to renovate their house, which prompted the hiring of the carpenter who ultimately discovered the crime. Investigators have not yet disclosed whether there were signs of forced entry or missing valuables.
Authorities have launched a parallel investigation to determine the motive behind the killing and to identify the person or persons responsible for what police described as a brutal and heinous crime. The case has raised alarm among local residents, particularly due to the violent nature of the attack and the victim’s age.
As of this writing, no suspects have been officially named, and police continue to gather evidence and interview potential witnesses to bring justice to the slain foreign national.
