Tawi-Tawi, Philippines — December 8, 2025 — The Coast Guard Station Central Tawi-Tawi (CGS CTT) has successfully apprehended a Canadian national for illegal entry into the province, underscoring its firm resolve to protect the country’s maritime borders amid heightened security concerns in the region.

According to the Coast Guard, personnel from the Sub-Station in Sitangkai were conducting a routine Pre-Departure Inspection on a fast craft when they flagged a foreign national exhibiting suspicious behavior. Upon questioning, the individual failed to present valid immigration documents. Further verification confirmed that the foreigner entered Philippine territory without undergoing proper immigration procedures—an outright violation of national laws governing foreign entry and border control.

After initial documentation and assessment, the Canadian national was immediately turned over to the Bureau of Immigration in Zamboanga City for deeper investigation and appropriate immigration action.

The operation forms part of the intensified directives of Acting District Commander Commodore Rejard V. Marfe, PCG, who earlier ordered stricter border protection measures and reinforced vigilance across all Coast Guard sub-units in the region. The move aims to curb unauthorized entries and strengthen maritime security amid increasing vessel traffic and movement near the country’s border communities.

CGS Central Tawi-Tawi reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to safeguarding Philippine waters, emphasizing that it will continue tightening surveillance and inspection efforts to ensure peace, order, and lawful access within the province’s strategic maritime routes.
