CAMP GALLEGO, Tubod, Lanao del Norte — Authorities in Lanao del Norte scored another win in the fight against illegal drugs after the Munai Municipal Police Station (MPS) seized twenty-three (23) fully grown marijuana plants in Barangay Matampay early Thursday, November 14, 2025.
The discovery stemmed from a report made at around 7:00 AM by the Barangay Captain of Matampay, who informed police that a resident accidentally found a suspected marijuana plant while collecting firewood on a hillside in Purok 2.
Acting swiftly, the Officer-in-Charge of Munai MPS coordinated with PDEA Region 10 under Pre-Operations Number 11-00-11142025-003. A joint team was immediately dispatched, accompanied by the informant, to verify the report. The site—located roughly 17 kilometers from the police station—was found to be a secluded cultivation area.
Upon arrival, authorities confirmed the presence of twenty-three marijuana plants discreetly grown on the hillside. Each plant measured approximately eight inches in height and carried a combined estimated Standard Drug Price (SDP) of ₱4,600. The plants were uprooted on-site and seized as evidence.
All confiscated items were brought to the Munai MPS for documentation and will be turned over to the Lanao del Norte Provincial Forensic Unit (LDN PFU) for qualitative and quantitative laboratory examinations.
PCOL Leo De Leon Sua, Acting Provincial Director of the Lanao del Norte Police Provincial Office, praised both community vigilance and the swift action of personnel on the ground.
“We commend the vigilance of our community members and the prompt action of our police personnel. This accomplishment underscores the importance of strong police–community partnership in our ongoing campaign against illegal drugs. Rest assured that the Lanao del Norte PPO will continue to intensify its operations to keep our communities safe and drug-free,” he said.
Authorities are currently investigating to determine those responsible for cultivating the plants as operations against illegal drug activities continue across the province.
