Oroquieta City — A man identified only as alias Junior was arrested by joint forces of the 1002nd Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 10 and personnel of the Oroquieta City Police Station for illegal possession of a firearm during the serving of a warrant of arrest in Purok 1, Barangay Mobod, Oroquieta City.
Authorities reported that during the operation, the suspect was found in possession of a .22mm improvised rifle along with ten live ammunition. The firearm and ammunition were immediately confiscated as evidence.
The suspect, a resident of the said barangay, is now under police custody and will face charges for violation of Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Police officials reaffirmed their commitment to intensify operations against the proliferation of loose and improvised firearms in the region to ensure public safety and peace and order in the community.
