MAGUINDANAO DEL SUR — An 11-year rido (clan feud) between the groups of Commander Manti Mulao and Commander Bangladis Katil in Sultan sa Barongis has finally been resolved after a formal settlement led by Maguindanao del Sur Governor Kagui Ali Midtimbang and 601st Infantry Brigade Commander BGen. Edgar Catu on Saturday, November 15.

The long-running conflict, rooted in deep misunderstandings between the two commanders and their followers in Brgy. Angkyamat, has repeatedly disrupted the lives of residents due to recurring armed clashes. Four members of the Mulao family were previously killed in the feud.

Under the settlement agreement, both parties pledged to put an end to their hostilities and committed to restoring peace in their community. A total of ₱400,000 in blood money was allocated to the side of Commander Manti Mulao in recognition of the lives lost from their family.

The event was witnessed by key provincial and municipal leaders including Maguindanao del Sur Board Member Salik Mamasabulod, Maguindanao del Sur LMP President Mayor Nath Midtimbang, TUGUNAN SGA–BARMM Mayor Abdulbayan Abas, Sultan sa Barongis Vice Mayor Joefner Angas, Commander Ustadz Wahid Tundok, and other local stakeholders.

Governor Midtimbang and BGen. Catu underscored the importance of the settlement in restoring stability and protecting the welfare of communities long affected by the violence. Residents are hopeful that this long-overdue agreement will finally bring lasting peace to Sultan sa Barongis after more than a decade of fear and displacement.
