JASAAN, MISAMIS ORIENTAL — A 54-year-old City Health Office administrator and son of a retired judge was found dead inside his own van in Barangay Solana, Jasaan, on Friday afternoon, November 15, 2025, in what police are treating as a brutal killing with at least six stab wounds inflicted on the victim.
The victim, identified as Donnie Reyes Valdevilla Jr., also known by the alias “Gogol,” a resident of Barangay 15, Gingoog City, was discovered lifeless in the backseat of his gold Hyundai Starex van (plate number ZNW-693) parked along the national highway in Purok Cabolawan. He had been reported missing a day prior.
According to PEMSgt. Alexander Macaindig, who provided the initial report, the body was found at around 5:20 p.m., bearing multiple stab wounds that indicated a violent confrontation. Police estimate that the victim suffered around six stab injuries.
Initial findings point to robbery as a possible motive after the victim’s wallet, iPhone, and other belongings were discovered missing. However, investigators are not discounting other angles.
Jasaan Police Chief PCPT Jerome Capagngan said all motives remain under investigation, including the possibility of a personal connection between the victim and the suspect.
“We are still verifying reports of missing items and determining whether the victim had any relationship or previous dealings with the suspect,” Capagngan said, noting that investigators are reconstructing the victim’s last known activities.
Police are now tracing potential witnesses, checking CCTV cameras along the route, and coordinating with Gingoog City authorities to establish the events leading to the victim’s disappearance and eventual death.
The shocking discovery has disturbed residents of Jasaan and Gingoog, particularly colleagues of Valdevilla at the City Health Office, where he served as an administration head.
Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Jasaan Municipal Police Station as the investigation continues and a manhunt is underway.
