Davao City — A police officer assigned to the 1st City Mobile Force Company (CMFC) was arrested in an entrapment operation for alleged involvement in illegal drug activities and robbery-extortion in Barangay Sasa, Davao City, on Thursday afternoon, October 10, 2025.
The operation, launched around 4:00 p.m. by operatives of the Bunawan Police Station in coordination with the City Intelligence Unit (CIU) and the 1st CMFC, resulted in the arrest of the suspect identified as alias “Wang”, a bona fide member of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Acting on validated intelligence reports, police operatives carried out the entrapment at Km. 10, National Highway, Barangay Sasa, under the direct supervision of PMAJ Janus Lumbaya B. Macli-ing, Station Commander of PS6 – Bunawan, and PLTCOL Noel C. Asumen, with guidance from PLTCOL Alfredo L. Miguel, Chief of the CIU.
During the operation, the suspect was caught in flagrante delicto while receiving ₱30,000 in marked money from a complainant. Recovered from his possession were 4.80 grams of suspected shabu and other evidence, including the entrapment money.
The arrest was conducted peacefully, with no resistance from the suspect. Police officers immediately informed him of his constitutional rights and escorted him to the Bunawan Police Station for documentation and custody. The confiscated drugs and cash were turned over to the proper authorities for laboratory examination and filing of appropriate cases.
A criminal case for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and robbery-extortion will be filed against the arrested officer. He also faces administrative charges for Grave Misconduct and Conduct Unbecoming of a Police Officer, which could result in his dismissal from the service.
PCol. Mannan C. Muarip, Acting City Director of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), commended the operating team for their professionalism and integrity in executing the operation. He stressed that the arrest underscores the PNP’s firm commitment to its Integrity Agenda and internal cleansing efforts under the leadership of PLTGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez, Jr., Acting Chief of the Philippine National Police.
“This operation reflects our unwavering resolve to cleanse our ranks and uphold the highest standards of public service. No one is above the law, and every erring member will be held accountable, regardless of rank or position,” said PCol. Muarip.
The DCPO reiterated that its campaign for discipline and accountability continues under the D.A.V.A.O. Policing Program, which promotes Discipline, Accountability, Values, Altruism, and Order. The arrest serves as a stern reminder that integrity must begin within the organization to strengthen public trust in the police force.
