CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Authorities from the 1004th Maneuver Company, 3rd Platoon of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 10 (RMFB 10), in coordination with the Provincial Intelligence Unit and Kalilangan Municipal Police Station (MPS), successfully intercepted a shipment of alleged smuggled cigarettes during a checkpoint operation in Kalilangan, Bukidnon, on Thursday morning, October 10, 2025.
At around 8:45 a.m., operatives flagged down a red metallic Mitsubishi Mirage G4, a rent-a-car driven by a 21-year-old Criminology student identified only as “Boying,” a resident of Tibpuan, Lebak, Sultan Kudarat. The vehicle was reportedly traveling from Lebak towards Cagayan de Oro City.
During inspection, police discovered three blue cellophane bags containing King Perfect brand cigarettes, estimated at 150 reams with a total market value of ₱120,000.
The suspect was immediately placed under custody and brought to the Kalilangan Municipal Police Station for documentation and further investigation. Meanwhile, the confiscated items and the vehicle will be turned over to the Bureau of Customs in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental, for proper disposition.
Police Brigadier General Christopher N. Abrahano, Acting Regional Director of Police Regional Office 10, commended the swift and coordinated action of the operating units, noting that their vigilance was crucial in preventing the entry of contraband into Northern Mindanao.
“This operation is a testament to the dedication of our personnel in preventing the entry and distribution of smuggled products in Northern Mindanao. Rest assured that PRO10 will continue to strengthen its checkpoints and intelligence-driven operations to protect the welfare of the public,” Abrahano said.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to intensifying border control and anti-smuggling operations across the region to curb the illegal trade of untaxed goods.
