SIBUTU, TAWI-TAWI (October 16, 2025) — A remarkable display of unity and public service unfolded in the municipality of Sibutu as the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) Tawi-Tawi, together with the 2nd Marine Brigade and the Marine Battalion Landing Team-4 (MBLT-4), launched a comprehensive medical mission for the benefit of local residents.

The initiative highlighted not only the Marines’ role in territorial defense but also their capacity as a Force and Capability Multiplier through genuine Fleet-Marine Synergy—an integration between the Navy and Marine Corps that brings essential services to far-flung island communities.

The event was made possible through the strong partnership of the Philippine Navy’s BRP Gen. Mariano Alvarez, the United States Marine Corps, MSOC-P Tawi-Tawi, Marine Reservists, and the Provincial and Municipal LGUs. Coordinated logistics and security planning ensured that medical personnel and supplies safely reached Sibutu’s remote shores.

Residents availed themselves of various free services including:

  • Medical consultations for children, adults, and pregnant women
  • Dental checkups and treatment
  • Immunization for children
  • Nutritional assessment for families
  • Minor surgical operations such as circumcision and cyst removal

Beyond delivering much-needed medical aid, the mission demonstrated the power of cooperation among local and international partners serving the Bangsamoro region. It symbolized true service—protecting the nation’s territory while extending compassion to its people.

Inauguration of Mujilon Hall: A Symbol of Steadfast Service

In the midst of the medical outreach, another milestone took place—the inauguration of the Mujilon Hall, the new administration building of MBLT-4.

Representatives from IPHO, the Provincial Government of Tawi-Tawi, and the residents of Sibutu warmly attended the ceremony, expressing heartfelt gratitude to the Armed Forces of the Philippines, particularly the Philippine Marine Corps, for establishing a Marine battalion presence in their community.

Mujilon Hall stands as a symbol of MBLT-4’s enduring commitment to Sibutu. Beyond guarding the strategic Sibutu Passage, MBLT-4 continues to promote peace, order, and progress across the island and its neighboring communities. With active cooperation between the Marines and the people, Sibutu is making steady progress in the fight against transnational crimes and in fostering local development—proving that the MBLT-4 is not just a protector, but a partner in peace and nation-building.
