LAMITAN CITY, BASILAN — A daring daylight robbery struck a gold store in Lamitan City around 12:45 PM today, October 10, 2025.

According to police reports, an unidentified male suspect wearing a black face mask smashed the glass display case of a gold shop located inside the Negosyo Center in Sitio Viscaa, Barangay Matibay. The suspect, armed with a hammer, swiftly grabbed gold jewelry worth an estimated ₱100,000 before fleeing the scene.

Authorities said the store is owned by businesswoman Hji Salma Lakibul Insani of Barangay Maganda. The robber escaped aboard a red-and-black Honda CRF motorcycle without a plate number, heading toward Barangay Campo Uno. Police believe a black Honda ADV with two riders acted as a getaway support vehicle.

Responding units from the Lamitan City Police Station, led by PLTCOL Elmer P. Solon, together with the 1st Basilan Provincial Mobile Force Company and the 1403rd Regional Mobile Force Battalion, immediately conducted pursuit operations.

The Lamitan City Police are now coordinating with nearby PNP and AFP units to track down the suspects. Intelligence teams are conducting surveillance and monitoring efforts as the investigation continues.

Authorities urge the public to report any information that may help in identifying the perpetrators.
