MASIU, Lanao del Sur – After more than two decades of conflict, the long-standing rido (clan feud) between the Dimapatoy and Solkun families has finally come to an end through the efforts of the Masiu Local Government Unit under the leadership of Mayor Mitmug Guiling.
The reconciliation ceremony took place on October 21, 2025, bringing peace to the families and the community that had long been affected by the feud. The settlement was made possible with the support of local leaders, including the datus and elders who facilitated the peace dialogue and offered spiritual guidance and prayers for reconciliation.
Mayor Guiling expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed to the peace process, particularly to 1Lt. Guardian, Bravo Company Commanding Officer, and PMaj. Salem, Chief of Police of Masiu Municipal Police Station, for ensuring security and serving as witnesses to the historic settlement.
“This is a victory for peace, unity, and understanding,” Mayor Guiling said. “May this serve as an example that conflicts, no matter how long, can end through dialogue and goodwill.”
The peaceful resolution of this rido marks a renewed hope for the people of Masiu, symbolizing the triumph of compassion and brotherhood over generations of animosity. Alhamdulillah — all praise be to Allah for guiding the families toward peace.
