DATU UNSAY, Maguindanao del Sur — Police authorities arrested two suspects for the illegal sale of firearms and ammunition in an entrapment operation conducted on Wednesday morning, September 17, 2025, at the public market in Barangay Meta.
According to the Maguindanao del Sur Police Provincial Office, in coordination with operatives from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), the suspects were caught around 9:35 a.m. during a buy-bust-style operation.
Seized during the operation were multiple upper and lower receivers for caliber 5.56mm rifles, a red Ford Escape XLT, boodle money amounting to ₱600,000, and marked cash used in the entrapment.
The arrested suspects, along with the confiscated items, were turned over to the CIDG Regional Field Unit–Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (RFU-BAR) for proper documentation and filing of charges under Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Police Regional Office–BAR Regional Director PBGEN Jaysen C. De Guzman assured the public that sustained operations will continue against loose firearms and the illegal gun trade in the region. He emphasized that such efforts are vital in maintaining peace and order in Maguindanao del Sur and the rest of BARMM.
