Glan, Sarangani Province – Justice is closer for the family of 17-year-old Adrian Wenceslao Herasta after police confirmed the arrest of the remaining suspects in connection with his fatal stabbing last September 17.

According to Glan Municipal Police Station (MPS), the suspects were apprehended at around 11:30 p.m. on September 19 at Purok Riverside, Barangay Poblacion, following relentless follow-up operations. The breakthrough came after one of the culprits voluntarily admitted his presence during the crime and identified the other assailants, enabling police to track them down.

“The successful operation is proof of our firm commitment to uphold the rule of law and ensure perpetrators are held accountable,” said PLTCOL Jovenson B. Bayona, Chief of Police of Glan MPS.

Mayor Victor James Yap welcomed the development, saying, “Justice is served.”

Herasta, a Grade 12 student and resident of Purok San Antonio, Barangay Ilaya, was jogging home on the evening of September 17 when three to five men attacked and stabbed him. Despite seeking help from bystanders and being rushed to a medical facility, he succumbed to his injuries after several hours.

The tragedy has left the community mourning the loss of the young student, who, according to relatives, had already lost his parents and was struggling alongside his siblings to pursue education and daily survival.

The suspects are now in police custody and will face appropriate charges. Authorities continue to investigate the motive behind the killing.

Meanwhile, Herasta’s family continues to appeal for support from the public. Donations may be sent via GCash to 09380060393 under the name Florie Mae M. Herasta.

Police also encourage anyone with additional information about the case to report to the nearest station as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen justice and community safety.
