UPI, Maguindanao del Norte — A decades-old family feud between the Minted-Galapin and Datuwata clans was formally settled on September 17, 2025, through a peace ceremony facilitated by Bangsamoro Mediators Inc. (BMI) in partnership with the Office of Vice Governor Datu Marshall I. Sinsuat.

The ceremony, held at Gians Restaurant in Barangay Nuro, marked the resolution of the rido (clan conflict) that had long strained relations between the two families and disrupted community peace.

Witnessing the event were uniformed personnel from the Alfa Company, led by 1LT Davi Ram O. Cuesta (INF) PA, Commanding Officer under the 57th Infantry (Masikap) Battalion, alongside 2LT Jessica G. Blando (QMS) PA, Acting Battalion CMO Officer. Representatives from the Peace, Security and Reconciliation Office (PSRO), the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Upi, and respected traditional leaders also attended the settlement.

Organizers said the successful mediation highlights the effectiveness of collective action between civil society, government institutions, and security forces in ending hostilities and preventing future conflicts.

“This milestone reaffirms our shared commitment to sustainable peace and reconciliation in Maguindanao del Norte,” BMI officials said in a statement.

Community leaders likewise expressed optimism that the settlement would pave the way for strengthened relationships and stability in Upi and neighboring areas.
