ZAMBOANGA CITY — A road accident claimed the life of a Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) engineer after his vehicle collided with a backhoe along the Diversion Road in Sitio Balinsungay, Barangay Mercedes on Friday morning.
The victim, identified as Engr. Fahad Abduraup, was driving his vehicle when it rammed into a backhoe at around 11:24 a.m. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Authorities said the backhoe was operated by a man identified only as “Jay-ar,” who is now in police custody for investigation.
Police are conducting a follow-up probe to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
