CLAVER, Surigao del Norte – A total of 22 fisherfolk from 14 barangays in Claver received brand-new fiberglass fishing boats complete with marine engines and accessories during a turnover ceremony held Friday morning at the General Services Office.

The initiative reflects the municipality’s continuing effort to strengthen the agricultural sector, particularly the fishing industry, which is one of the town’s primary sources of livelihood.

For local fisherfolk, having sturdy and reliable boats is vital to sustaining their daily work at sea. With the new fiberglass units, beneficiaries are expected to increase their catch, ensure safer fishing trips, and secure a more stable income for their families.

“This boat is a big help to us. Before, we struggled with our old wooden boats, especially during rough seas. Now, we can fish more safely and hopefully bring home more catch for our families,” said one of the beneficiaries.

The project stands as a clear example of Claver’s commitment to support both land and sea-based industries, fostering a stronger and more progressive community.
