Kapalawan, SGA – A year after a deadly skirmish fueled by a land dispute, two warring families formally reconciled through a rido (clan conflict) settlement on September 7, 2025, in Barangay Kibayao, Kapalawan, Special Geographic Area (SGA).

The settlement involved the families of Marco Bigkog and Tumindeg Ambli, whose feud stemmed from an incident on September 8, 2024, in Barangay Kilangan, Pagalungan, Maguindanao del Sur, near the boundary of Kibayao. That clash left one person dead and another injured.
The reconciliation was initiated by Barangay Kibayao Chairman Hon. Abdulatip Kadingilian, in coordination with the Pagalungan Municipal Police Station (MPS) led by PCPT DatumAsla B. Mangalangkat Acop, under the supervision of PCOL Sultan Salman Sapal, Provincial Director of Maguindanao del Sur. The Philippine Army’s Charlie Company of the 40th Infantry Battalion, headed by CPT Marlon B. Gonan, also took part in facilitating the peace process.
Witnessing and supporting the settlement were representatives from the Ad Hoc Joint Action Group (AHJAG) led by Mr. Escobar Dilangalen, and the local government of Pagalungan under Mayor Abdilah G. Mamasabulod, represented by barangay officials of Kilangan.
The formal signing of the agreement by both families marked their commitment to end hostilities and rebuild ties. Authorities said the initiative is a significant step toward long-lasting peace and stability for residents of Barangay Kilangan and Barangay Kibayao.
To ensure safety and order throughout the event, security was provided by personnel from the Pagalungan and Kapalawan MPS and soldiers of Charlie Company, 40th IB.
