Cagayan de Oro City — A total of 256 barangays from the provinces of Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Bukidnon have successfully retained their drug-free and drug-cleared statuses following the approval of applications by the Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing (ROCBDC) on August 27, 2025. The deliberations were held at the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Regional Office 10 in Cagayan de Oro City.
Of the total number, 21 barangays—located in Baungon and Impasug-ong in Bukidnon; Lopez Jaena, Sapang Dalaga, and Concepcion in Misamis Occidental; and Kauswagan, Matungao, and Iligan City in Lanao del Norte—retained their drug-free classification.
Meanwhile, 235 barangays across the three provinces were confirmed to have sustained their drug-cleared status.
Under the Barangay Drug Clearing Program, drug-free barangays are those with no identified drug personalities, verified through a stringent process. On the other hand, drug-cleared barangays are those that previously had identified drug personalities but have since complied with all requirements set by the program.
Police Brig. Gen. Rolindo M. Suguilon, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 10 (PRO10), hailed the milestone as a testament to the government’s sustained campaign against illegal drugs at the grassroots level.
“This development is a clear reflection of the communities’ resilience and vigilance against the menace of illegal drugs. The retention of these statuses means that our collective efforts are working, from the PNP and our partner agencies to the LGUs and the barangays themselves,” Suguilon said.
PRO10 reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the national government’s anti-drug campaign, emphasizing that continued collaboration with local government units, law enforcement agencies, and communities is key to keeping Northern Mindanao safe and drug-free.
