BUTUAN CITY – Two members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) voluntarily surrendered to authorities in Agusan del Norte on August 7, 2025, bringing with them their firearms, police said.

The Agusan del Norte Police Intelligence Unit, in coordination with personnel from the Buenavista Municipal Police Station and the Special Forces Insertion Team of the 7th Special Forces Company, 3rd Special Forces Battalion, facilitated the surrender.

Police identified the surrenderers as alias “Noel,” 31, married, a regular member under SRSDG DGF19, SYP-Lumad, and other dismantled CTG units in the Caraga Region; and alias “Maymay,” 36, married, reportedly involved in CTG front organizations under MAPASU and KASALO Caraga.

Both are residents of Sitio Han-ayan, Barangay Diatagon, Lianga, Surigao del Sur. Noel turned over a caliber .45 1911 pistol with serial number 022500, while Maymay yielded a caliber .22 Smith & Wesson revolver with a defaced serial number.

Police Colonel April Mark C. Young, provincial director of the Agusan del Norte Police Provincial Office, said hunger, hardship, and unfulfilled promises within the communist movement drove the two to leave and return to the fold of the law.

“The Agusan del Norte police and PRO-13, together with all member agencies of the RTF-ELCAC, will continue the whole-of-government approach against communist terrorists to achieve peace and national unity,” Young said.

Authorities encouraged other CTG members to surrender and avail themselves of the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP), which offers education, livelihood assistance, and psychological support for reintegration into mainstream society.
