ZAMBOANGA CITY — Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation Western Mindanao Regional Office (NBI-WEMRO) arrested three suspected gun runners in a buy-bust operation at Paseo del Mar, Barangay Zone IV, on Thursday afternoon.

NBI Regional Director Atty. Jose Ermie Monsanto identified the suspects as Alfahad Sampang Hayudini, alias “Kokoks,” Nurhaquim Mahamod Hadjula, and Alberto Miguel Ysug Lee, all residents of Zamboanga City.

Confiscated from the suspects were four M4A1 Carbine rifles (cal. 5.56mm) and two caliber .45 pistols, each with a loaded magazine. Authorities said the group was on board a Nissan Navara pick-up when they were caught in the act of selling the firearms.

According to Monsanto, the suspects are allegedly part of a broader gun-smuggling network operating in the Zamboanga Peninsula and island provinces. They are now facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
