GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Authorities are probing the discovery of what appears to be a human skull, wrapped in cloth and accompanied by photographs, found in a vacant lot in Barangay Calumpang last Saturday, August 2.

The General Santos City Police Office said the unsettling find may have been part of an act involving malicious intent, possibly aimed at defamation or other unexplained motives.

Residents in the area reported the discovery to local authorities, prompting the immediate response of police and forensic investigators. Upon arrival, authorities cordoned off the site and began initial assessments.

Investigators have not yet confirmed the identity of the remains or the context in which the skull was left at the scene. However, the presence of photographs alongside the skull has raised suspicions that the act may have been symbolic or ritualistic in nature.

“Our investigators are carefully examining the evidence and interviewing possible witnesses who may have seen suspicious activity in the area in recent days,” said a police spokesperson.

The skull has been turned over to the appropriate forensic unit for examination. Police are also working with local barangay officials to trace any missing persons in the vicinity as part of efforts to identify the remains.

Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward to assist in the investigation.

The incident has caused concern among residents, with many hoping for a swift resolution and clarification on the motive behind the disturbing find.
