Ungkaya Pukan, Basilan | July 29, 2025 — In a concerted effort to bolster security at both the tactical and community levels, the 32nd Infantry (Daredevil) Battalion, the 45th Infantry (Gallant) Battalion, and Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams (BPATs) of Ungkaya Pukan successfully conducted interoperability and rifle training exercises aimed at enhancing operational synergy and grassroots defense capabilities.

Troops from the 45IB and 32IB, both under the 11th Infantry (Alakdan) Division of the Philippine Army, executed a joint firing and rappelling activity to improve their marksmanship, fire discipline, and coordination. The training emphasized combat agility, tactical insertion techniques, and unified execution — key elements in effective joint operations and real-world engagements.
Through synchronized live-fire and rappelling drills, both battalions strengthened their cohesion and mutual trust, reinforcing their readiness to operate as a unified force in addressing security challenges in Basilan. The activity reflects the Army’s commitment to ensuring a mission-ready and responsive force capable of confronting lawless elements and securing peace across the province.
Simultaneously, the 45IB facilitated a rifle firing exercise for BPAT members from Barangays Bohe Pahu and Materling, a move geared towards enhancing the Barangay Defense System (BDS). This grassroots initiative equips community peacekeepers with essential firearm handling and basic marksmanship skills under the supervision of professional military trainers.
Barangay Councilor Hon. Mujiv Pangamdas led the BPATs of Bohe Pahu, while Barangay Chairman Hon. Dahwan S. Kumban headed the team from Materling. Their involvement underscores the importance of barangay-based security in maintaining local peace and order.
The success of these parallel activities illustrates the Philippine Army’s integrated approach — building tactical excellence among its soldiers while empowering local communities to contribute to peace and stability. It also showcases the synergy between military forces and local government units in fostering resilient and secure communities in Basilan.
