Mamasapano, Maguindanao del Sur – Two young men were killed while another was injured after they were shot by unidentified gunmen in Sitio Ambusite, Mamasapano, Maguindanao del Sur, around noon on Friday, July 18, 2025.
The fatalities were identified as Kalyaw K. Lintang and Ken D. Esmail, while the wounded victim was identified as Jake M. Ayob. All three were residents of Barangay Tambak, Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat.
According to initial reports from barangay officials and the Mamasapano Municipal Police Station, the victims were reportedly taking shelter in the area when armed men riding a motorcycle suddenly approached and opened fire on them without warning.
Witnesses said the assailants quickly fled the scene after the shooting. Responding authorities found the victims sprawled on the ground, two of them lifeless and soaked in blood. The injured victim, Ayob, survived the attack and is currently receiving medical treatment.
Police investigators are still determining the motive behind the shooting, with some reports suggesting the victims may have been suspected as informants or assets. The investigation is ongoing to identify and locate the suspects responsible for the deadly attack.
