CAMP ALAGAR, Cagayan de Oro City — A suspect was arrested and a minor was rescued during a successful entrapment and rescue operation against online sexual abuse and exploitation of children (OSAEC) conducted on July 23, 2025, in Barangay Tambacan, Iligan City.

The Iligan City Police Office Task Force Against OSAEC, in coordination with Iligan City Police Station 4 (ICPS 4), the Women and Children Protection Center–Mindanao Field Unit (WCPC-MFU), Highway Patrol Group Iligan, City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWD)–Iligan, and the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Enforcement Task Force Team 10 (RACETTF 10), implemented Warrant to Search, Seize, and Examine Computer Data (WSSECD No. 25-004).

The operation led to the arrest of a 28-year-old male suspect, identified only by his alias “KB CY-CY,” who was previously linked to an OSAEC case but had evaded capture. Authorities also revealed that he is allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade and engages in the online exploitation of minors for profit, selling explicit content to foreign clients.

A female minor, who was being offered online for sexual exploitation, was rescued during the operation. She was immediately brought to the CSWD Children Assessment and Processing Center for care and intervention.

Seized from the suspect were three mobile phones, 16 SIM cards, and one black flash drive—all believed to be used in the online exploitation activities.

The suspect is currently detained at ICPS 4, facing multiple charges for violations of:

  • Republic Act 11930 (Anti-OSAEC and Anti-Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials Act),
  • Republic Act 9208 (Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act), and
  • Republic Act 7610 (Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act).

Police Brigadier General Rolindo M. Suguilon, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 10, lauded the successful operation and the collaborative efforts of all involved units.

“This operation is a testament to our unyielding commitment to protect children from the dangers of online sexual exploitation. With every successful rescue, we affirm our duty to pursue justice and safeguard the most vulnerable members of our society,” he said.

PBGEN Suguilon also called on the public to remain vigilant and to promptly report any suspicious online activities involving minors to the authorities.
