Parang, Maguindanao del Norte — Authorities from the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO BAR) intercepted over ₱1.1 million worth of suspected smuggled cigarettes and arrested two individuals during a checkpoint operation in Barangay Capiton, Datu Odin Sinsuat on July 20, 2025.

Personnel from the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, under the Maguindanao del Norte Provincial Police Office, flagged down a white Foton Close Van with plate number JAB 7766 during a routine checkpoint. Initial inspection revealed several boxes of Canon Menthol 100s cigarettes partially concealed behind Styrofoam containers.

A more extensive inspection conducted at the Datu Odin Sinsuat Municipal Police Station led to the discovery of additional contraband hidden inside fabricated compartments within the truck’s walls, ceiling, and flooring.

In total, the authorities recovered 38 master cases and 850 reams of Canon Menthol 100s cigarettes labeled “FOR EXPORT ONLY,” with an estimated market value of ₱1,100,000. The inventory was properly documented in the presence of barangay officials and media representatives.

The seized vehicle, smuggled goods, and the two suspects are currently in the custody of Datu Odin Sinsuat MPS for legal proceedings.

“This accomplishment reflects our sustained commitment to protecting the welfare of our communities and the integrity of our borders.
