Malabang, Lanao del Sur – A law enforcement operation by the Malabang Municipal Police Station (MPS) led to the arrest of a suspect for illegal possession of firearms on Tuesday morning, July 8, 2025, in Barangay BPS Village, Malabang.

The operation, conducted at around 10:50 AM, resulted in the confiscation of a caliber .38 pistol, one magazine, and seven live rounds of ammunition from the suspect.

According to Police Colonel Caezar P. Cabuhat, Provincial Director of the Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office, the suspect was apprehended for violating Republic Act No. 10591, also known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. The arrested individual is set to be presented before the court for the issuance of a Commitment Order.

In a statement, Col. Cabuhat commended the Malabang MPS for their effective enforcement efforts and commitment to public safety.

“This successful operation reflects our ongoing efforts to rid our communities of loose firearms and ensure peace and security in Lanao del Sur,” Col. Cabuhat said.

Authorities assured the public that they will continue to conduct operations to prevent criminal elements from threatening local peace and order.
